I'm on the phone with Carol. I felt that I needed to dedicate at least one post to my girlfriend of over a year. For those of you who don't know us, we are kind of weird when we are together. Well we are weird when we are apart too, but it's like when you multiply 10 and 10 together. You get 100. That's a lotta weirdness. And even 100 weirdness points split between two people is 50, so yea.
Anyway, we were talking about blogs and how people start blogs through word of mouth. I mean, you never see a commercial on TV for blogspot.com, or at least I've never seen one. And I said, that's usually how most fads/trends/online crap are started.
Take facebook for example. I learned about it from my friend in Kansas back in middle school, but it didn't catch on here until sophomore or junior year. I guess that doesn't really prove my point. uhhhhhhhh...
Well, in order for a trend to start, the target needs to be convenient (internet is the ultimate convenience, refer to season 12 episode 6 southpark: Over Logging) and people need to be willing to dedicate time to it. People spend HOURS a day on it just so they can talk to people they had already spent the entire school day with. How come people, not just some people but all people, have so much time on their hands and still complain about how much school work they have or their bad grades? I can understand getting info about upcoming parties, homework, or some chit-chat for a few minutes or even an hour or so. But the majority spend way more time each day. Maybe not all at once, but the cumulative hours at random intervals throughout the day add up. I mean there is no final objective or satisfying relief of achieving a goal when on facebook.
It's nothing like a computer game where you strive to be the best or achieve a certain level. This leads me to a specific application called Friends for Sale. I have to admit that I am a victim of this monstrosity but only because I wanted to buy my Carol who raised her price to about 2 million in one night (WTF!), so I had to buy her. Oh crap lol. This blog was supposed to be about her. oh well... the next one will be.
Friends for Sale is ridiculous. People buy other people for fake money and acrew sums of pixels by selling themselves to the same person over and over again. Basically whichever old, hairy from the neck down man can find the most attactive picture of whoever and post it as a profile picture will be bought over and over by some other old, toupéed man with a profile picture of some young man or woman. Ok. Maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit but I bet this situation is pretty prevalent.
I should probably be writing my UC essay instead of this but this just requires much less thought. And theres less pressure. And judgement. And only Matt and Brian read it.
Good night

The Mobius Strip
Ok. It's 2:44 am and I am up helping Tonia with physics. Why? I really don't know. Maybe I'm just a nice guy. Well I decided to explain the Mobius strip since Matt didn't understand what it was or its applications. Basically a Mobius strip is any band that is twisted once so that the ends connect into a circular figure with a twist in it. I think the most fascinating aspect of the Mobius strip is its relation to the theory of the shape of our universe whether it be 3, 4, 5, etc dimensional.
Well, the basic principle is that as you travel along the strip and return to ur original location, you will be on the other side of the strip. For example, if you were to travel the length of the universe, you would be on the other side of it...??? I heard from a presentation at COSMOS that if you were to do this, everything about you would be flipped. Your heart would be on the right side of your body, your clothes would be flip-flopped, even your right and left brain would reverse. So, by my understanding, if you were good at math, now you would be good at art, and vise versa. Maybe this sounds really boring to you, but I think its really cool. Now, if you were to travel another length of the strip, then you would return to your original left-hearted self. This explains my quote and reveals my trait of lazyness. It's true that you would end up in the same spot, but the journey would have probably been worth while.
Here's another brain scratcher. So, let's say you can see all the way across the universe, which would be the case with a Mobius strip since it is a circle and everything is connected front to back to front to back. Therefore, you would be able to see yourself, but in the flipped form. ANDDD you would be able to see the you in front of that and then the flipped you in front of that one and so on and so forth.
Yea. So there's a bunch of theories on the shape of the universe such as spherical, hyperbolic, flat, or donutish. Cosmologists have theories relating electron flow and other wacky stuff to the big bang in order to track the shape of the universe as it grows. So eventually, the universe might grow to big (to hold tonia cause she's so fat jk) and implode on itself.
Ok. Thanks for letting me bore you all (matt). cya later.

The Guilt of Procrastination
I really don't get it. How come I feel so guilty and mad at myself for not doing my apps, yet I just refuse to do them. I mean I want to. I reallllllyyy want to, but I can't bring myself to start. Well I've finished my whole UC app except for the essay which, honestly, is probably all I have going for me (maybe.) I haven't even gotten my letter of recs into my teachers for privates and I don't even know if I've started my Common App yet. I have a Gov test tomorrow and a Physics test the next day so I am busy for a while which does not help with the lazyness factor. hahaha that's probably it. I am soooo lazy. I really don't know what do do except for ramble on in this blog. But wait! If I have the time and energy and "unlazyness" to write this blog, how come I can't do the same thing for my apps (and studying lol.) Well i guess it's sort of a paradox. Or maybe we haven't come to the center of the problem.
In order to work on my applications, WORK is required. i don't think about blogging as work and there really is no pressure to impress others when blogging as is the case with apps. Besides i don't think anyone is gonna read this anyway. So, it's like watching TV instead of doing hw. No pressure, no responsibility, no need to truly use brain power. I don't know. Now i'm confused. No pressure, responsibility, thought? Isn't that the epitome of being lazy? 1 sec. . . I gotta reread what i wrote. . . ok well. I dont know if youuu could make sense of that but i sure couldn't. But while reading, i came up with a solution.
SUCK IT UP AND JUST DO IT!
Alright i'll return to my Gov studying, and to all you procrastinators out there, Nike.

The World of Blogging?
Hi all you bloggers out there!
This is my first web log, or "blog" for short i guess. Basically I've been familiar with the concept of blogging since, well, the golden years of elementary school with Xanga and all that stuff. I never realized that blogging was a serious thing until I saw that commercial for Twix where the guy asks the girl up to his apartment and she says "What kind of girl do you think I am?" and the guy says "I thought you were a believer. Someone who would want to blog and share their beliefs," or something along those lines. After seeing that, my view of the Xangaish style of blogging (and bloggers) was reassured as represented by the naive girl character in the commercial who doesn't realize that the guy just wanted to have sex with her. However, after my friend, Matthew Hong (matthewhong.blogspot.com), told me that he had recently created one, I decided to look into it. Plus, I was bored of apps (which I am trying to procrastinate earlier on hahaha.)
I read the beginning of his post on TOO many college apps. It was interesting. As I continued browsing through his previous entries, I noticed that maybe blogging is more for the blogger than the bloggee, or the one reading the blog.
Well, I'll try posting a few more times if anything interesting comes up and see if blogging is for me.
Maybe, naivity is all in perspective.
